27.09.24 Poetics of Encryption curated by Nadim Samman is an extensive group exhibition bringing together works by over 40 international artists, building upon Samman’s recent book by the same title. Nico Vascellari’s VIT (2020) holds a monumental place in the show running til January 12th at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, Denmark.
26.09.24 Artists Making Books: Pages of Refuge at the American Academy in Rome is an exhibition bringing together over one hundred books envisioned, conceived, and made by artists from 1905 to the present, including Nico Vascellari (Italian Fellow, 2008). On view until December 7th at the American Academy in Rome, Italy.
02.08.24 On occasion of the exhibition Melma (24.06 – 08.10.23) and the performance Alessio (03.10.23) in Florence, Museo Novecento produced a dedicated monograph, published by Silvana Editoriale. Nico Vascellari. Melma will be released in September, with texts by Sergio Risaliti, Roberto Lacarbonara, Lucrezia Calabrò Visconti, Nadim Samman, and Andrea Lissoni; and an interview by Stefania Rispoli.
26.07.24 The performance Alessio was presented at Haus der Kunst in Munich, curated by Lydia Antoniou, Camille Latreille, and Andrea Lissoni. The performance extended through the three main areas on the ground floor of Haus der Kunst, involving 15 performers in a choreographic action that reflects on the conventions and codes of non-verbal communication. After the performance, the soundscape of Alessio and the neon artwork ¿ (2024) will continue to enliven the Terrace Hall until September 3rd.

16.05.24 Mirabilia et Antiquaria curated by Andrea Bruciati is an exhibition celebrating the acquisition of new works within the permanent collections of Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este in Tivoli, Italy. Among the acquisitions is one of Nico Vascellari’s very first works: A Great Circle (2003). On view until July 7th at Villa d’Este.
23.04.24 Archetipi curated by Bartolomeo Pietromarchi is a series of performances held at Accademia Nazionale di San Luca, in Rome, Italy. Nico Vascellari debuted a new piece by the title Fuori Dalla Grazia Di Dio (2024).
20.04.24 On occasion of the 60th Biennale Arte, Giorgio Armani celebrated the acquisition of Nico Vascellari’s new neon piece by the title ¿ (2024). A large red neon work depicting a question mark hovered over the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy, adorning the facade of the Gritti Palace Hotel. Inside, Nico Vascellari presented another new piece, titled Cosa Siamo (2024).
18.04.24 Nico Vascellari’s work Horse Power (2023) has been acquired by Banca Ifis and installed permanently inside the International Sculpture Park of Villa Fürstenberg, in Marocco, Venice. Horse Power consists of nine monumental aluminum sculptures that enhance the peculiarities of the relationship between man and nature immersed in the botanical-naturalistic ecosystem of the villa’s garden.
27.03.24 The Uncanny House curated by Ilaria Marotta & Andrea Baccin investigates the sense of unheimlich, a place that provides an especially favored locus for uncanny disturbances through the work of eighteen international artists. Nico Vascellari debuted a new piece by the title The Fifth Room (2024). On view until September 1st at Museum Casa di Goethe, Rome, Italy.

03.10.23 Alessio, a performance by Nico Vascellari curated by Sergio Risaliti and Stefania Rispoli, is presented at Salone dei Cinquecento, Palazzo Vecchio, in Florence. The video work Alessio will be presented in the Sala d’Arme of Palazzo Vecchio in December and will become part of the collections at Museo Novecento, Florence, thanks to the 12th Italian Council grant by the Ministry of Culture.
24.06.23 VS #00 (The Party Organ of Nico Vascellari Studio) is launched as the first issue of Nico Vascellari Studio’s own publication, collecting archive materials, references encountered throughout the making of artistic projects, texts collected between January and June 2023, in preparation for the exhibition MELMA. Nico Vascellari transformed the house headquarters in Milan into a giant roller disco pinball machine, with a custom disco soundtrack entitled 'After Dark', specifically created by the legendary Italian composer and producer Giorgio Moroder.
09.12.22 Nico Vascellari is awarded the XXIV Pino Pascali Prize by Fondazione Museo Pino Pascali, Polignano a Mare, Italy. The award show Tre, Quattro Galline was among the recipients of the PAC 2022 grant, issued by the Italian Ministry of Culture. The installation Tre, Quattro Galline is now part of the collection of the Museum.
